Kumamoto City, the capital of Kumamoto Prefecture, is the central city of central Kyushu — famed for the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, abundant groundwater (100% of the city’s tap water comes from it) and the mascot Kumamon. Recently, with TSMC building in nearby Kikuyo, semiconductors and inward investment have grown fast. Mount Aso is close by. Costs are low with spacious, affordable housing; excellent water and high livability — a rising semiconductor-and-water city of central Kyushu.
