Okayama
Cost of living, housing, transport and neighborhoods in Okayama.
City Overview
Okayama City, the capital of Okayama Prefecture, sits on the Seto Inland Sea coast of western Honshu — a transport junction linking Kansai, Shikoku and the Chugoku region (the start of the Great Seto Bridge). Warm with little rain (the "Land of Sunshine") and few natural disasters, it is highly livable. Korakuen (one of Japan’s three great gardens) and Okayama Castle are famous. Costs are low with spacious, affordable housing. The Sanyo Shinkansen reaches Osaka (~45 min) and Hakata (~1.5 h) — a great-value, livable center of the Setouchi region.
