• Ride off-peak when you can (30% off trains and metro), and remember the Friday–Sunday AU$9.65 cap — weekend exploring is nearly flat-rate.
• The airport station fee surprises everyone — AU$17.92 on top of the fare each way; the 420 public bus serves both terminals at a normal fare.
