Scholarships and financial aid for studying in Germany — government, university, and international programs.
In Germany, public universities charge little or no tuition, so scholarships mainly cover living costs. The central funder is the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) — the world's largest organisation of its kind — which funds graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral study and research, plus political foundations (e.g. Konrad-Adenauer, Friedrich-Ebert) and the Deutschlandstipendium at universities. - DAAD scholarships are aimed mainly at graduates, doctoral candidates and postdocs (not full bachelor's degrees) and provide a monthly stipend plus travel allowance — they do not have to be repaid.

- The Deutschlandstipendium, offered at participating universities, pays a flat monthly amount funded jointly by the state and private sponsors.
- Because tuition at public universities is minimal, budget primarily for living costs (the student-visa blocked account is a separate proof-of-funds requirement).
