🇵🇹 Portugal · Permanent Residency
Permanent residency and golden-visa paths: eligibility, required years, investment thresholds, and official checklists.
After five years of legal residence you can usually apply for permanent residence in Portugal, granting indefinite residence and work rights (EU/EEA/Swiss citizens have their own arrangements). Portugal's Golden Visa still exists but its real-estate route was removed in 2023; remaining investment options and the standard work/study/family routes lead to residence. AIMA decides applications.
