Canada's Start-Up Visa Program — which gives entrepreneurs backed by a designated organisation a route to permanent residence — was closed to new applicants on 1 January 2026, as the government transitions to a new entrepreneur-immigration system. A limited exception lets holders of 2025 commitment certificates apply until 30 June 2026. Check IRCC for the current programme before planning.
