🇯🇵 Japan · AML & KYC
Anti-money-laundering and customer-due-diligence obligations, regulated activities, and the official financial regulator.
In Japan, AML/CFT is based on the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds. The Financial Services Agency (FSA) supervises financial institutions, and JAFIC (the Japan Financial Intelligence Center, in the National Police Agency) is the FIU. Obliged businesses must verify customers at the time of transactions (KYC), keep records and file suspicious-transaction reports.
- Verify customers at the time of transactions (KYC) under the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds.
- The FSA supervises financial institutions; keep records of verification and transactions.
