As of 2026 the UK has no dedicated AI Act. It follows a "pro-innovation", principles-based approach in which existing sector regulators apply current law to AI within their remits, guided by non-binding policy from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). The government has signalled it may introduce a more comprehensive AI bill — verify the current position.
