Canada has no comprehensive AI law in force. The Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA), proposed within Bill C-27, died when Parliament was prorogued in January 2025 and the government has said it will not return in that form. In the meantime, a Voluntary Code of Conduct on the responsible development of advanced generative AI applies; watch for a new framework.
